Game Of Thrones will definitely be ending after its eighth season, HBO has confirmed. The network's president of programming, Casey Bloys, said today (July 30) that the decision has been made by showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss. "They have a very specific plan about the number of seasons they want to do," Bloys told Entertainment Weekly. "If I could get them to do more, I would take 10 more seasons. But we take their lead on what they think they can do the best version of the show." Benioff and Weiss are due to start shooting season seven shortly. It will feature seven episodes, three fewer than previous seasons, and will debut on HBO in summer 2017. The eighth and final season will presumably follow in 2018. Watch the hilarious Game Of Thrones season six blooper real here Asked about the possibility of a spin-off series, Bloys said: "We've talked about it. It's something I'm not opposed to, but of course it has to make sense creatively." "I'm not sure that [the showrunners] could really wrap their heads around it when they’'e just about to start production. It's a pretty intense production, they're about to start production [on season seven]soon. I'm open to it. The guys weren't opposed to it, but there's no concrete plans for it at this point."

Kanye West has claimed that a "beef" between rival streaming services Tidal and Apple Music is "fucking up the music game". During a series of tweets earlier today (July 30), the rapper called for some kind of meeting involving him, Tidal's primary owner Jay Z, Apple's CEO Tim Cook and Apple Music associates Drake and Jimmy Iovine, among others. "Fuck all this dick swinging contest. We all gon be dead in 100 Years. Let the kids have the music," he urged. Let the kids have the music.— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) July 30, 2016 He also appeared to suggest that Apple's Tim Cook, who he compared unfavourably to his predecessor as CEO, Steve Jobs, should offer to buy Tidal from Jay Z. "Apple give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop trying to act like you Steve," he wrote. Apple give Jay his check for Tidal now and stop trying to act like you Steve.— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) July 30, 2016 West did not mention other streaming services such as Spotify and Deezer in his tweets. Yesterday the rapper released a new video for his track 'Wolves', in which he and his wife Kim Kardashian West are both seen crying. The video, which, like the track, features Sia and Vic Mensa, also stars a host of models such as Jourdan Dunn. Earlier this week, West discussed his wife's penchant for taking nude selfies, saying that her not showing off her body would be like Adele failing to utilise her vocal talents.

HBO's president of programming, Casey Bloys, has renewed hopes that there could be a third season of True Detective. Bloys confirmed at a US TV industry event earlier today (July 30) that neither the network nor its creator, Nic Pizzolatto, have ruled out a follow-up to the poorly-received second season, saying of the show: "It's not dead." "I've talked to Nic about it. I think both Nic and HBO are open to a third season," Bloys is quoted by IGN as saying. However Bloys also said that Pizzolatto currently "doesn't have a take" on the story that a third season might tell, adding: "We're open to someone else writing it and Nic supervising it. We're open to other permutations." Bloys' reasonably encouraging comments were echoed earlier this week by season one's star Matthew McConaughey, who said he has been discussing the possibility of returning with Nic Pizzolatto. HBO also admitted recently that the show's second season was "rushed" and that Pizzolatto was under pressure to write it faster than he wished.

The Avengers star Jeremy Renner has admitted he was "frustrated" by his character's story arc in the franchise's first movie. The actor explained during a Q&A event at London Film & Comic Con that he felt thwarted by the subplot which saw his character, Hawkeye, being brainwashed by Tom Hiddleston's villain, Loki. "I never really told anybody this, but in the first Avengers… I was just getting to know who Hawkeye was, and then zap, I go round like a zombie, I'm like Loki's minion," the Radio Times quotes Renner as saying. "And I'm still not even sure who Hawkeye was at that point. So I'm a little frustrated, because I was so excited to figure out who Hawkeye was." Renner also told fans at the event, presumably with his tongue reasonably firmly in his cheek, that he would feign heart attacks during scenes in order to drop a not so subtle hint to the film's producers. "And they said, 'what are you doing man?'" Renner recalled. "I'm giving you an option, if you just want to kick me out of this movie. Just you know, at any given moment, if you wanna kill me off, daddy’s gonna be having a heart attack." Renner's character Hawkeye will next be seen in Avengers: Infinity War, which will now be one movie instead of two as originally planned. "I don't really want him to die now," Renner said at the Q&A event. "I really got to explore him a lot, and I can't wait to explore him more, and there's some really cool ideas coming up."
