Drake has revealed his gift for comedy in a previously-unseen Saturday Night Live sketch.
The rapper hosted the sketch show for the second time in May, having previously been a host in 2014.
Due to time constraints, a sketch with SNL regular comedians Beck Bennett and Bobby Moynihan was cut. It has now been placed on YouTube and sees Drake play a new employee at printing chain Kinko’s.
The sketch sees Drake try and fail to join Bennett and Moynihan’s in-jokes, with the pair repeatedly telling him “You’re a peach, but you did it wrong.” In response, Drake begins inventing his own bizarre catchphrases.
As well as his Saturday Night Live appearances, Drake is a regular attendee at comedy shows in Los Angeles. At Hollywood Comedy Store in 2015, he heckled comedian Red Grant for doing a Drake impersonation, telling Grant: “That was like some Omarion/Chris Brown together shit. That’s not me, man.”
Mos Def is among other comedian rappers, having played a full stand-up show in 2015 at Montreal comedy club Phi, where he made jokes about Drake, Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa.
Meanwhile, Drake is in competition with Kungs Vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners to be No 1 single. ‘One Dance’ is currently No 1 for an 11th week, the longest reign in the UK since Wet Wet Wet’s ‘Love Is All Around’ spent 15 weeks on top in 1994. Kungs Vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners’ ‘That Girl’ is at No 1 in midweek sales before the chart is officially announced on Friday, but it has been for the past fortnight before a late surge in sales for ‘One Dance’.
